The second position in the season 2016 - 2017 was taken by Russian Anton Shipulin. It is an athlete from Russia who is one of Fourcade's main competitors in the upcoming tournament.

In terms of competition, women are almost as good as their male team colleagues. Among the representatives of the women's galaxy of “stars” there are also a lot of brilliant athletes who are ready to compete for gold medals. According to experts, the following biathletes may be among the victors of the World Cup:

  • Laura Dahlmeier (Germany);
  • Kaisa Mäkarainen (Finland);
  • Gabriela Koukalova (Czech Republic);
  • Marie Doren-Habert (France).

Separately, it is worth noting the multiple Olympic champion Daria Domracheva, who represents the Republic of Belarus. Unfortunately, last season the athlete failed to gain her optimal shape and, as a result, the lack of prize prizes of the world championship. It is unlikely that the final of the coming Cup will be without Daria, however, the question of the probability of her winning the tournament still remains topical.
